Sunday League football has become so violent that players turn up to matches armed with knives, FA officials have warned.

Referees are also being threatened and intimidated leading to a shortage of match officials as they are too scared to turn up for Sunday League matches.

Last week, the FA chaired a disciplinary hearing into an alleged incident of abuse towards a referee by a coach in the Nottinghamshire Senior League.

Stuart Pearce has hailed the game-changing impact of Entain’s new innovative online portal that makes getting involved at your local non-league club easier than ever this International Volunteer Day.

With the annual global event taking place on Monday December 5, the Pitching In Volunteer Hub has already filled over 60 roles across the Northern Premier, Southern and Isthmian Leagues as part of Entain’s multi-million-pound, multi-year investment programme into grassroots sport.

Fans can also search for available opportunities at a specific club or based on their location, with well over 200 positions and applications posted since the platform launched back in May.

From his home town of Stourbridge to global social media, everyone is raving about Jude Bellingham (6.12.2022)

"The 19-year-old star is fondly remembered in the Black Country where he first played football for Stourbridge Juniors before being snapped up by Birmingham City FC's academy for their under-eight team."

Remembering his time with the Juniors, Bellingham has said: "When I look back at that early time in grassroots football I just think of the fun."

Stourbridge Juniors was set up by Jude's father, Mark Bellingham, who had a successful non-league career while also being a police officer, and Phil Wooldridge.

Jude has not forgotten his roots, with several members of the current Stourbridge Juniors team receiving "good luck" and "keep going" notes from Bellingham.
